When a Sailor is advanced to E-5, they can qualify for Basic Housing Allowance BAH which means they can have an additional amount of money each paycheck to go towards living off the base. This ranges greatly based on geographical location. I created this table so you can see what a difference that could make depending on your duty station.

These bonuses are earned by reenlisting in different zones that correlate to years in service. Good question. Some high ranking Naval Leaders drafted up a policy which allowed the Nuclear Community to split Zone C into Zones to allow for more bonus opportunities and reward those that excel in their careers. I almost forgot to mention Nuke Pay! Not too shabby! Oftentimes, Nuclear Sailors squander their bonuses on depreciating assets such as fancy cars and extravagant lifestyles.
