I upgraded my laptop to Windows 8 a few months ago. I use it to copy for my blogs and also into my spreadsheets from a web shared spreadsheet. It makes little difference where I try to paste I get the same result. Sometimes re-selecting the text works other times it does not. In anther forum it suggested seeing was running if rdpclip. It wasn't so I started it and included it in startup.
That worked for a few days them stopped. Sometimes a reboot clears it up for a while - even days - other times it's a few hours or not at all. This is beyond a joke. I've used different browsers and it makes no difference.
My machine is absolutely clean, I run multiple protection programs and scan it regularly with the latest scanners Malware Bytes, ADWCleaner, JRT, and others and have been in this business since Windows first launched. I've looked under the hood and seen nothing. But this can't go on, it interferes with my real work as well as my pleasure. My Windows 7 machine works fine but I need my laptop. The problem shows a lot in Bing searches but no solution and I need one.
My suggestions there were diagnostics. Diagnostics don't fix things. They return information to help guide inferences which may ultimately result in a clearer symptom description.
Only then would it be possible to start an analysis which identified a problem and then perhaps a fix or more likely, a workaround could be devised. Does it work normally when you copy files from one drive to another, or only this problem just happens in Internet Explorer 10? This probably caused by a program or service, you can try to make a clean boot for test. Please refer to the link below for more details about clean boot.
The application I wanted to paste into was listed as Deny. I switched it to Allow and it works fine now. But at least I know how to deal with it now.
I just turned off computer and restarted it after a 10 second wait. Every thing is normal again. This works a lot of the time. Webroot messed up my normal application and denied it. These antivirus and antimalware programs frequently are the culprit behind these things.
For some reason, Webroot has these glitches and I have to remember to turn off Webroot to diagnose problems with my windows 8 system. Often, it is Weboot conflicts. I faced the same problem on my dad's system with Windows 8, till I turned off the "IM Anti-virus" option on Kaspersky. It is an all-in-one solution that keeps your system running smoothly. However, this happens quite rarely, but if it happens then you should know the alternative of it. If it has not fixed the problem at hand, then you must look into it further and try the subsequent method. It may so happen, that if your system has installed malware, then it can cause problems with the copy and paste function. The antivirus program can detect and deal with the installed virus. Thanks for your help, but I did a clean install after discovering that I could not use my mouse, keyboard or wifi upon rebooting. In reply to PeterWagner's post on December 23, Hi Peter, Glad to know that a clean install helped to fix the issues.
Matt Grondin. In reply to Vinod Archak's post on December 24, In reply to seankearney's post on February 19, How could MS not have such a simple every day feature work in Windows 8? Suggestions please. In reply to PegC's post on February 26, I am having the same problem! It is getting quite frustrating not being able to copy and paste anything. Windows 8 has been horrible and on top of everything it is extremely hard to navigate and use.
The older versions were MUCH better! Please help with the copy and paste issue. Simple copy and paste from web pages doesn't work, to get a start menu you have download a third party app and the UI is almost unusable. I think Microsoft was in such a rush to cash in on touch screen that they did not care if it works or not and where is the support here they've instructed to "refresh windows" why?
And with all these changes where is the tutorial so we can find the functions we are familiar with? Thanks Microsoft I'll be sticking with Win 7 on my own computer until google brings out an OS and finishes you guys off for good! In reply to Matt Grondin's post on February 15,
