Improve this answer. Is 'uninstall' supposed to be 'remove'? That's what I get for typing without thinking, doh! I just tried it right now, and I got "Virtual packages like 'virtualbox-guest-additions' can't be removed" — math4tots. I think the guest additions came with a fresh install.
I set up another install of Debian with "debian It's not installed on my system, and it seems unlikely that the installer would behave differently in a VM. Did you get the latest version of guest additions installed correctly at least? Show 3 more comments.

I so far have run, in Terminal, these: dpkg -l grep virtualbox Which returned: unity-scope-virtualbox lsmod grep -io vboxguest Which returned: vboxguest Although it doesn't show up as having the typical virtualbox guest additions, the Ubuntu screen size still resizes to the virtual machine's window. Is there a way to remove the vboxguest kernel module as well?

Obvious question VB won't run correctly without them. I did not install them. I am looking to remove the ones that come with the initial install of Ubuntu.
