If you have a family expect to spend time away from them. Pros The field saves you money. Cons Deployment. Productive workplace. Awesome duty for country is to serve in the military. Best decision I could have made after graduating high school. Would recommend others to join the military. Military life encourages families to support one another, and one of the most valuable assets a family can have when adjusting to change is the network of families that have undergone exactly the same thing. I did NOT like being a soldier, but I am glad I did it because veteran's benefits are great, and they are for life.
If you can navigate a chaotic bureaucracy there is some amazing opportunities in the Army. Almost ALL of your time will be dominated, often for seemingly pointless reasons. Be prepared to spend many hours sitting in a hallway doing nothing surrounded by depressed 20 somethings before the sun is even up multiple times a week.
