Fallout 3 operation anchorage ps3 download

In This Wiki Guide. Prepare for the future with the third in the classic, post-apocalyptic franchise. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the Wasteland to search for your father, and the truth.

Release Date. The Biggest Games of Presented by truth. These enemies range from generic to half-interesting, with the Crimson Dragoons using stealth to avoid your VATS-targeting. Worse still, your objectives are so linearly placed and pointless that Bethesda may as well have skipped them altogether. You walk out from the camp. To the left is one objective, to the right is another, and the third - the pulse wall - lies in the middle. If you walk too far forward you'll die - almost instantly - from a shower of bombs.

It's almost as if Bethesda forgot what made Fallout 3 a joy - or the recession started to tug at them to make money. The icing on the cake is the final battle which is totally automated and won by robots actually badly reskinned Brotherhood of Steel soldiers. There's little or no ending, no closure, and no point to anything that goes on in this expansion. Even the gear and extra perk you receive are useless if you've played more than a few hours of Fallout 3 and totally, if you haven't unlocked Power Armour yet , and the three or so hours you sink into the mission are lifeless.

Finally, I can't deplore enough how little story there is. I had high hopes that Bethesda would pull out some wacky lore, gadgets and kitsch '50s nonsense. All this pack does is prove that they have either missed the point of the franchise, the point of Fallout 3, or they've just become as money-grabbing and soulless as everyone else.

Spend the Microsoft Points on some Rock Band tracks instead of this tripe -they're far more enjoyable. Bethesda Have Certainly come a long way since releasing the oft-mocked Horse Armour extension to Oblivion. With Operation Anchorage, they've really pushed the boat out in terms of downloadable content. Taking around five hours to finish, it will actually take longer to complete than Call of Duty 4 's single-player mode.

It also allows Fallout fans to visit a legendary period in the lore of their beloved series, finding out what really happened according to Bethesda when the Chinese decided to attack the land of ice and Sarah Palin. And there's not a single piece of horse armour in sight. The Chinese are the enemies that need to be dealt with in Operation Anchorage, invading Sarah Palin's backyard. It'll give you a permanent boost to the Lockpick, Science, and Small Arms skills. Even better are the weapons and armor that you snag at the end.

The Gauss rifle is one of the best weapons in the game with a high damage rating and a nice zoom outside of VATS. Use that with the new shocksword and you can turn yourself into a kickass ninja.

But if that's not your style, there's also a set of Tb winterized armor that is quite good, too. However, much like with all of Fallout 3, whether referring to the actual game or its five pieces of DLC, your experience is likely to vary widely. You may be lucky and experience no problems, or you may experience problems that seemingly break the game and ruin your experience.

As we mentioned in our review for the PS3 release of Broken Steel, many of the problems encountered could simply be Fallout 3 being Fallout 3. As good as it is, it's simply not a very well-programmed or clean game, and it shows more than ever while playing the PlayStation3 releases of the DLC. Apart from the game often stuttering, destroying the framerate, there were other issues during my playthrough worth noting.

The game would often freeze for five or more seconds at a time. Sometimes, the game would come out of this freeze, but other times, it would remain in stasis, forcing me to shut down the PS3 and reboot to try again. I never encountered issues in the same place twice, but the fact that they were completely random makes them even more problematic, because you simply won't know when to expect them.

Freezes would happen when walking around, or when in VATS, so there's no safety from it. The only advice I can give you is to save often, because chances are, you're going to need to fall back on one or more of those saves as you progress through the DLC. Thankfully, the AI seemed to be a little smarter than it was in Broken Steel, so I didn't encounter the same problems with broken, unresponsive AI.

There is one notable exception, however, and it's at the refinery at the very end of the DLC. At this location, you encounter a Chinese general who is leading the Chinese soldiers who have taken the American refinery. When I encountered him, my character would be unable to move or pull out a weapon except if I convinced the general, through speech, to commit suicide.

The one time I managed to join the fray, many of the Chinese soldiers remained static and unmoved. Without being able to fell them, or the Chinese general, you can't catalyze the end of the DLC, so you'd theoretically be stuck in a loop here.

It's a shame, because underneath all of the unbelievable technical problems remains a great experience. One can't help but wonder how Bethesda is releasing such incredibly broken DLC packs for PS3 owners, but as someone who played through all five DLC packs on , in their entirety, I can tell you the experience on the is a far better one. Then again, as prefaced in the first paragraph of this review amendment, it could be Fallout 3 being Fallout 3.

It's entirely possible that you'll have a flawless experience, and it's just as possible that you'll run into even more problems than I did. Either way, save, and save often. It's the only solution to overcome the DLC's myriad technical issues.

I had fun while playing Operation:Anchorage despite a few bugs and a couple of game crashes, and the items you get for completing the missions are awesome.

The combat levels are through the roof which makes the entire download a thrill ride. Still, I can't help but feel that the whole package was a bit slim.
